Default So can those of us not playing yet get a small review from those that are?

Never even got to play much in beta. So was just wondering how much changed for release.
    Server stability better?
    Guild system added yet?
Added any PvE content at all? Or still the same 6 or 7 mobs we had in beta?
Hows the PvP system? Desync seem to be resolved?

And just general opinions/reviews on playing.

Just wondering while I'm killing time before I can play.

Server is pretty stable now. It'll stay up for hours no problem. Stayed up long enough for me to fill my inventory to 830/61 on a macro thanks to me falling asleep watching a movie...
Not sure on the guild system. Guild stones are in and buyable, for 1k gold, but no-one's built a house and set anything up yet.
Haven't PvE'd much, but I will say that bush pigs are randomly aggressive...
I am seeing a few people who are apparently invisible, but their weapons still show. Apart from the lag PvP seems to be ok, but I do have issue with the 'solidity' of players. They seem to take up more room then they should and you can't slip past them easily, plus push seems to be useless. Basically, it's allowing people to pin you in far too easily for my liking, so avoid running into corners.

There are a couple of bugs that are pretty bad, like the issues of inventory and bank item allocation (and the fact that you can overfill your inventory with 'invisible' items). Oh, and books dont have descriptions yet, so you really need to know in advance what you want to buy. Plus pets and mobs seem to have some real issues (Tais' bear is a fucking retard that likes to hump wooden shacks...)

But you can see the improvements and still do some good and have fun in game. By the end of the first month it should be a great game to play (and here's hoping we have a house).

Still sounds like an extended beta from your description. It doesn't sound nearly as bad DF was but I think i'll be playing the wait and see game for a bit longer.

    What is the grind like?
Is macroing rampantly abused ala DF?
More importantly are you having fun?

I don't know about you guys, but DF really made me take a hard look at mmo addiction vs fun. For me DF was more of a compulsion to play and make the city/guild better vs any type of fun. The fun parts were very far and few between.

Please continue to post reviews and impressions. I really want to hear what everyone has to say.

MO can be played by both casual players and people who love to grind. Personally, I have the most fun when I am grinding for something, like a city. But you really can have a pvp viable character in MO in about a week, so you do not have to grind if you do not want to. It is really up to you and your playstyle. You can leave the grind of city building to those who enjoy it and just spend your entire time pvping, it's up to you.

Yeah, even with my rather casual level of play I've managed to max my attributes and get a good amount of my skills done. Your attributes raise incredibly quickly compared to something like Darkfall. A few hours woodcutting and your strength and constitution max, plus books really help. They're sorta like the skill system in EVE. Read the book, and the skill raises even when offline, plus the book will even raise the requisite attribute (learn something like Footspeed which base attribute is Dexterity and your gained Dexterity while reading even if you're offline). So, yeah, the character advancement part of the ol' grind has been all but neutured.
A bit of dedication and a few books and you can have a fully trained PvP character in 2 weeks, I'd say.

There is still a grind though, and that's for resources. It's quite easy to make enough money for the essentials, like spare woodcutting axes and skill books but when it comes to things in the realm of guilds, like house building, then yeah, you'll be at it for a while. A house is 2k gold, and at best woodcutting will get you 9 Brownwood a hit about every 3 seconds, and Brownwood sells for 2 cuprum a unit. 100 cuprum to a silver, 100 silver to a gold. Do the math and it works about to about 38.5 days of continuous woodcutting to afford a tier 1 house...and that's just the deed. You still need to harvest the wood, stone and metal to actually build the fucker. Thankfully, there are faster ways to earn money but I wouldn't expect anyone to get a house through solo effort in under a month.

Macroing...not really. Harvesting is the same auto toggle like DF is now, so you dont need any woodcutting macro. Also, every skill has a book which will raise it even when offline, and for most of the skills to be raised manually you need to actually have a target/resources to spend. So, beyond two players setting up an extensive hit/block/rest macro together (which caters to item decay) there shouldn't be much of it. Nor is it really needed, as mentioned before.
I've also heard a lot of the usual macroing ways are blocked by MO. Autohotkey still works, but a lot of other programs dont seem to.
I have a jumping macro set up to help me raise dex, but I'll have Jumping maxed by tomorrow I reckon, then I'll be macro free.

As for the fun, I'll be honest and say it's pretty shallow on that front atm. MO is specifically designed as a stripped down sandbox. There are literally NO QUESTS. Everything of note in game, minus the odd bit of GM intervention (epic bosses and such) will be a product of player on player interaction. Given the current state of the server though (where no-one has a house, let alone an actual guild and most interaction is reds ganking people at the trees outside Fab) there isn't much beyond the house race to do. Plus there are a few annoying bugs that'll piss you off. The ones I mentioned in the last post seem to be solved, and those were my biggest gripe and have gone a long way to making it a more enjoyable experience, but still...
You can certainly make/find your own fun though, if you've a mind to.

All up, I can understand if people dont want to try it atm. They wont loose much but not being a day one player. It would still be nice to have more people helping out on the gathering front though and I fully expect that over the next few weeks as the game settles down and the political atmosphere kicks in it'll become a thoroughly enjoyable game to waste your life in.

The grind for your character is basically nothing, the most grinding you will do for your character will be too get some gold for books... which wont take long. A casual player should be able to have a viable toon within 2 weeks, easily.
There is a grind for housing, although thats compounded by the difference in numbers from when we were playing DF. If we had the numbers of DF then it might be a different story.

One of the amazing things for me (which I have probably said on vent half a dozen times) was seeing lightning about 4km+ away into the distance, I first thought it might be some glitch and then sat there a bit on a mountain and watched... yep lightning. Unexpected and pretty awesome.

Pretty much no lag, smooth... crashes every few hours and generally back up within 10mins.
Plenty of bugs. Pet pathfinding and attacking is all sorts of crap.
Inventory issues are being fixed, latest patch fixed a bunch of things.

Is it worth playing? Yeah if you can put up with the bugs, but if you want a polished game.. then look elsewhere.
Has this game got potential? Yes, I can say that with the memory of Darkfall firmly in my mind.

While we do make a big deal of these bugs now, I have little doubt that they will be gone in a couple of weeks... possibly to be replaced with more bugs lol.

Do I regret purchasing MO? Not at all and I will continue playing.

Yeah, I remember chopping wood and hearing the thunder and going "What the fuck was that?. Pretty little storm going off in the west. The weather system should be quite interesting. I wonder if they'll add....or maybe they already have...world effects to it, like heavy rain raising river levels or the occasional player being struck by lightning or archery having to compensate in heavy wind. That would be so cool.
They did say, however, with the way the weather is set up (which is pretty interesting, you can find it on their site) that players can, once they figure out how, effect the weather to some degree.
